8:10 pm - ...and Ashley got Salmonella
|
Well it's been a hell of a long time since I've updated, so here we go (in bullet point form):
-Wrote on Beth Curry's guest book on her web site to tell her how much I admired her, she e-mailed back and we began conversing, then she invited me backstage. -Went with Brent and Jeremy to see the show and Andy Karl played Emmett, he was great. Beth Curry was amazing and we totally love her. If I could do what she does, I'd die a happy man. -Classes started up, love American Musical Theater, starting not to like Basic Acting, Death and Dying is a breeze, and Intro to Org Comm and Advanced PR Writing are bores. -Auditioned for main stage shows, got called back for "In Conflict," but didn't get a second. Hoped for Steward in Into the Woods, but didn't get anything. -Was cast in two shows in the Philadelphia Young Playwrights Festival, but stepped down from my role in one because of issues I had. I was in the chorus with Brent in that show, "Hall Pass." Loved every single minute of being Claire's Dad in "Deliver Us From Evil," the story of two Catholic schoolgirls who plot to kill a nun. Great dark comedy and we got a standing O the last show. -Meanwhile, was offered the part of Cinderella's Father in "Into the Woods" and was freakin ecstatic. Had to wait until PYPF was done to start though. -Haven't had a real social life because of it, but I wouldn't have it any other way since I love getting the chance to act. -Spur of the moment went with Ashley to see Legally Blonde for the fourth time because Amy backed out. E-mailed Beth Curry and said to look for a tard in the audience, she offered another backstage tour. We saw Becky Gulsvig on as Elle and she was phenomenal. After the show, talked about "Into the Woods" with Beth and she said she might venture down to see it. I was completely floored and she's basically my idol now. She's so amazing funny and gracious and I just love her. -Rehearsals are always fun and I've met so many cool new people through the show and am loving every second of it. -The weeks ahead will be crazy with tech, mid-terms, and papers. We shall shoulder through though. -Oh, and Ashley got Salmonella from the Banquet pot pies. She went to the Health Center and they gave her an eating plan to make sure everything turns out well. Hopefully she'll be cool.
That's about it, and I may not update again for a while, but I figured these things were worth writing down. Until later, peace.

12:07 am - "You guys are retarded."
|
Alright, so Making Up For Kristen Bell Day started off rocky. Jeremy and I slept over the apartment then headed to the bus terminal at 4:15 for the 5:30 bus, with Brent meeting up a little later. We get our spot in line and they announce that the bus won't be getting there until 7. We ended up leaving at 6:30 or so, and made it to New York where we ran to the Palace for the Legally Blonde student rush. The line was pretty long, but we stuck it out. We ended up getting tickets for the matinee, which meant no stagedooring my other Broadway ladies. It was so worth it though because we were in the first full row of seats, with no one in front of us.
For anyone who hasn't seen the show, the rest of this is going to be foreign babble to you, so you might as well stop reading, lol. I'll do a bullet list of awesomeness. -Nikki Snelson looked at me through most of Omigod You Guys and she looked great with the brown wig -Leslie Kritzer winked at Jeremy -We saw Leslie's Kritzer, lol -Something went wrong with the Beer Bash Extreme, with only one guy coming on to yell "EXTREME" and Annaleigh did her normal reaction, then in the moment started twirling her fingers over the guys chest and sweetly giggled, "ooh nipples." -Kritzer in everything she did (her last day with the show, boo) -Me thinking Annaleigh was giving me the evil eye -Me knowing Orfeh gave Brent and Jeremy the evil eye because they impersonated Natalie Joy Johnson from a video of the cast recording -Beth Curry as the stenographer and waving to us at the end -Andy Karl as Callahan
We're moving on to stagedooring. -We basically flipped shit when Beth Curry came up, and she said, "You guys are retarded." We told her how big of fans we were of her as the steno and she said we made her day. I love that woman. My picture with her is on Brent's camera before we realized we should have switched.

-Asmeret Ghebremichael was really sweet and totally gorgeous.
-Leslie Kritzer told us that they told everyone not to mess up since it was her last day and that she did the show for us. She was so sweet and kind and I wished her good luck with A Catered Affair, which she starts rehearsals for on Tuesday. I'll definitelt be seeing it.

-Nikki Snelson was so freakin cute and asked where we were from. When we said Philly, she asked where and then said she had an ex-boyfriend that went to St. Joe's Prep which I told her was Bonner's rival.

-Next up was my favorite, the one the only Annaleigh Ashford. She was so cute in an everyday kind of way. Jeremy wore a Jamaican Me Crazy shirt which she loved and wanted to know where to pick one up.

-Natalie Joy Johnson was great and really freakin pretty. We told her about our love of her violin playing in the Broadway.com video and how Orfeh was mad at Brent and Jeremy's re-enactment.

-Next up was Orfeh, who Brent and Jeremy were scared shitless of. I broke the ice and said "Bend and Snap" made my life, not the smoothest thing, but those two weren't talking. She was really great though.

-Andy Karl was a really cool guy.
It was an all time high for me, because the show is my favorite musical now and I don't care what anyone says, lol. And you bet your ass I'll be rushing again, lol.

12:00 am - I'm basically in love with Wicked
|
|
Alright peoples, nothing happened in the past two weeks, but tonight the madre and I saw Wicked, which was friggin amazing. Wicked was a show I really wanted to see from the beginning and made it a point not to hear any of the music for the show before I see it. I've fallen in love with songs from other shows without seeing them, but this was different. I'm really glad I made the effort, because I had no idea what to expect from the show and could go along with all the twists an turns, and yeah, I teared up at the end. It was one of the ultimate theater experiences for me. The show had me from the beginning and it was really interesting to see how the characters would make it to what we know in The Wizard of Oz. The actress who played Elphaba, Victoria Matlock, had some insane pipes and had me rooting for her from the beginning. Glinda, Christina DiCicco, really stood for what I guess is my favorite type of character in musical theater, the super bubbly blonde who has moments where she seems to crack and flip out for a second only to return to her bubbly demeanor. She joins the ranks of Kristen Bell, Annaleigh Ashford, and Laura Bell Bundy in my heart. That's a damn good place to be, lol. I could seriously gush about the show forever, but we shall end this entry here. I'm headed to New York again this weekend hopefully seeing Legally Blonde again in what I've coined "The Making Up for Kristen Bell Day" where we'll stagedoor Xanadu to meet Kerry Butler and Mary Poppins to meet Rebecca Luker, then see Legally Blonde and stagedoor to meet Annaleigh Ashford. These girls constitute some of my favorite gals of Broadway and will help to sooth the burn from missing the Bell. Hopefully next week's entry will be a joyous one, lol. We'll just have to wait and see.

11:39 pm - no Kristen Bell for me
|
This past week was full of fun. On Monday, I headed into the city to spend time with Ashley and Adrienne, then picked up Brent and Amy and went to lunch at Cosi. Just getting back together with my core group of friends at school was so cool and had me excited for and dreading this coming year (my last, hence the dread). We were generally terrible people as expected. Ashley, Adrienne, and I headed back to the apartmento on Spring Garden seemingly to hang out for the rest of the day. Amy called though and asked if we wanted to go to her house in Vorhees, which we most definitely took her up on. We had a damn good time getting there and then an even better time after we got there. There was much embarrassment over Amy's Jew fro as a child. We went to one Chinese restaurant, didn't like the looks of it and turned around and went to another. Of course they sit me and the bawdy girls (haha Beth) behind a family and Amy and Adrienne cursed like sailors. We headed back to Amy's house and watched the Victoria Beckham special. We all fell in love with her, especially her use of the word "major" for something being cool, then watched Big Love, which seems amazing. I definitely need to get into it. The next morning Adrienne and I headed to Ikea to find a quilt cover for me and some house stuff for her. I struck out there and Target, Best Buy, and FYE for the Legally Blonde Cast Recording. Then I headed home and to the AT&T store to see if I could upgrade my phone. Apparently there aren't any cheap options anymore like when the store was Cingular, so I'm stuck with the crappy phone for a little while longer.
Friday saw me going to the Pearl to see Hairspray which was amazing. I wanted to see the Broadway version before the movie, but since I'm a fan of the original, I wasn't too out of the loop. I'm still planning to see the play though.
This Saturday was a great/terrible day. I planned on meeting Brent and Jeremy to see Xanadu (they already bought tickets) so I got there before the box office opened. Unfortunately there were no seats available at the price I was willing to pay, so I headed to Grey Gardens and got a ticket for $10 less. I was happy I could get them since the show closes on July 29th and I'd still be able to see Xanadu for a while. I met up with Brent and Jeremy and we walked around the city a bit then went to our respective shows. Xanadu is only 90 minutes, so they were done before me and would meet me outside the theater when Grey Gardens was done. I was completely amazed at Grey Gardens. It really brought you on a journey with the characters. It went from introducing a relationship between a mother and daughter to having you be disgusted at them then pity them. I was close to tears at the song "Around the World," a new favorite. Christine Ebersole is amazing and gave me chills more than once. As I walked out of one of the most heralded musicals on Broadway though, Brent and Jeremy informed me that while they were waiting for me they went to Starbuck's and met Kristen Bell. Considering she's the star of one of my favorite shows of all time, I was mighty depressed. I sulked the rest of the time all the way to the bus station, but then by some luck of God, Katherine was heading back to Philly from her internship in New York. If anyone could cheer me up, it's Katherine. And she did. It made the sting of no Bell a lot less painful. Thank God something interesting happened and there's actually a reason to update. Don't expect this much next week though, lol.

11:33 pm - accoutrement
|
|
Well nothing happened this week. I did get a free sandwich on Friday though since my manager Jen bet me that I couldn't use the word "accoutrement" five times over the course of the day and have it actually apply to a conversation. I said the word when I was first in that day talking to her, hence the bet. That sandwich was damn good, with the taste of victory, lol. I also went down to the good ole' campground this weekend and had a nice relaxing time. Tomorrow, I'm spendin the day with two of my favorite ladies, Ashley and Adrienne, and sleeping over. This should be fun. Oh, and Legally Blonde next weekend. Hopefully.

10:35 pm - no holster fries, but I went to Oz
|
I guess I forgot to update about Eric and Melanie's wedding, but it was a fun time. I know you're waiting in anticipation to see if I was at the kid's table this go around. I was fearful of it myself when I saw that I was seated with my younger cousins and not with my parents like I was told before. I swore that if I was there again I'd kick the ice sculpture off the table and leave. Luckily for me and the ice sculpture, I was at a good table with people who could legally drink. Praise Jesus for that one.
I also just got back from my road trip to Kansas (to see my brother Tim who's home from Iraq albeit for shitty circumstances), Illinois (my dad's army reunion), and Wisconsin (to see my uncle). I only wrote why I went to each place because people asked, "What the hell's in Kansas?" when I told them where I was going. My mom, dad, and I started out mid-country adventure at 3:00 am on Thursday June 28th in our brand spankin' new Winnebago that I named Ethel and drove straight through for twenty-one hours to Kansas. We saw Tim and visited the kids. It's still a weird situation which I don't really want to get into to here. While we were there, we visited an Oz Museum which was like heaven to me. They had dioramas with all the main characters and some original pieces of memorabilia. It was truly phenomenal for me since it's still one of my favorite movies of all time. We then headed to Illinois which was a crazy ass time as usual with some of the most interesting and funny people you would ever want to camp with. Plenty of alcohol flowed those days with people doing some hilarious stuff. We then headed to Wisconsin to see my Uncle Eddie. This is by far my favorite leg of the trip since I love my uncle's family and his house is freakin awesome. The madre and I flew back yesterday and I don't have work until Wednesday, which is great for me. I'm not exactly happy to go back after the bliss of no Genuardi's. All I really wanted from the start on this whole trip was a holster of curly fries from Roy Rogers, but there aren't any past Pennsylvania in the truck stops. The Oz Museum made up for it this time, but there's no excuses for the next one. Life should be pretty boring coming up, with only a little bit of summer left, then I start my last year of college. Scary shit. Peace.

10:56 am - "She is invested with VDs"
|
|
Erin's going away party was this past Saturday and it was good times. As a gift, I went to the Mexican food section of Genuardi's and picked up hot sauce with an amazing lil' man on the label, Spanish Jell-O, Flan, and the big piece, a candle of the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe style. Erin basically loved it, lol. Bridget got her a Spanish phrase book that had a huge amount of dirty/inappropriate things to say and it kept circulating around the table. The title of this entry was my favorite. Afterward, Bridget came home with me and spent the night at my house. I was so awesome to see her again and actually hang out. In all the pictures taken at the party, Bridget and I are making lewd hand and facial gestures. Just like old times, lol. This weekend is my cousin Eric's wedding, so there should be a good update.

11:41 am - Omigod You Guys!
|
|
Ok folks, so last week was obviously boring, resulting in no update. This week however included one of the most badass mammajamma times I've had in a long time. I went with the Beth to NY to see Legally Blonde the Musical on Broadway (phenomenal by the way, we'll get to that later though). We started the day spending entirely too much money fore transportation because I didn't have enough money cleared on my credit card to get an awesome Greyhound deal. We bitched about that for a while then got over it. We got to NY and had Chinese for lunch, then went to find the Greyhound terminal to get tickets. We then headed to the Palace Theater to get tickets for the show. We missed the student rush by a while, but luckily got two seats together in the balcony for a about $10 more. We then did the window shopping thing including an awesome trip to Toys 'R Us, where we went around the entire store. We then went to Fendi so that Beth could oogle things she could never afford (crazy broads), and ate dinner at the Stardust Diner. It was set up like a 50s cafe with poodle skirts and the whole nine yards, and the wait staff sang songs one after the other (they were all aspiring singers and actors). One girl sang Out Tonight, and Beth said she should try out for Mimi, to which I replied, "She's white." Case closed on that, lol. Now...to Legally Blonde. Out seats were literally the seats in front of the last row at the top of the theater. It was ok though since we had to make a quick exit to get to Greyhound. The show itself was amazing. Laura Bell Bundy owns my soul and the entire cast was phenomenal. The dancing and songs were top notch, and Beth and I have had the first song "Omigod You Guys" stuck in our heads since we left the theater. The show had an amazing blend of classical musical theater and up to date modern dance and lyrics, which I love. Nerds had the same type of feel, as well as Reefer Madness. We definitely have to go back and stage door because I'd love to meet those people. That's really about it with that, Erin's going away party is this Saturday so at least something will be written about. Peace.

11:29 am - God Bless Andy Griffith
|
|
Alright kids, as you can probably tell from the lack of updates, absolutely nothing has happened. I've basically been working and doing not much else. This past Thursday though, I went with Ali and Ashley to see Waittress, which was friggin awesome. It was a really subtle comedy that had some generally hilarious moments, and a really nice premise. The whole thing bordered chick flick, but I think anyone would enjoy it. Also, Andy Griffith plays a cantankerous old man who reads a Dear Abby type column about a woman who finds her husband is cheating on her, so she plans to kill herself to get back at him. After he finishes reading it aloud, he laughs and says he gets pleasure out of living vicariously through other people's pain. He's basically me as an old man, lol. Afterward, we went to get some food at the Continental, and I got the drink I planned as my first drink as a 21 year-old, the Buzz Aldrin. It's peach vodka and tang in a tang rimmed glass. That shit was good, but there was still the taste of alcohol, which I'm not sure I like, Vodka at least. We basically just hung out and caught up on the fact that Ali was going crazy in the apartment doing nothing, so I've decided that she's now Emily Dickinson's relative. Well that's about it for me, nothing big looks like it's happening that soon except Legally Blonde with Beth. Until then, peace yo.

9:19 pm - Chinese water torture chamber
|
Well kiddos, I'm now officially all done with my junior year of college. I just need to wait for grades to come in, and I'm not really thinking I'll do extremely well. Not bad in some classes, but definitely iffy in some. This past Tuesday, your truly turned the big 21. It was a really relaxed day then went to dinner with some of my closest friends from the past few months. We went to Applebee's and I got by far the worst first drink in the world, the Caramel Appletini. I don't know why I thought it would taste good, but I was severely wrong. Afterward, we went to Ali, Ashley, Jim, and Brendan's apartment (where I'll be living in the fall) for a lil' get together where basically everyone got plastered but the two oldest people there. Mary Rose and I ended up playing mom and dad with her making the pasta that Jim planned to make and me making sure noone got to rambunctious.
Then on Saturday there was housewarming party at the same apartment that ended up lasting about only three hours. It was ok though. The next day was the massive trip to Six Flags. I had gotten post nasal drip and such earlier in the week and when I woke up that morning I felt awful and ended up losing my voice over the day. So much funness happened, but I also had arguably the worst experience of my life, Kingda Ka. If you're not aware of it, it's the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world going 128 mph and 498 ft tall. Here's a picture:

I was apprehensive about it from the beginning because it sometimes doesn't make it over the loop. So we get boarded and Mary Rose and I are the most nervous/scared people in the world. We sit there for about ten minutes and they had us get off. We waited about an hour, and at that point I was more upset that I finally got the courage to go on the ride and wasn't walking away. We finally left after they sent two cars through to test if it made it over the loop, we were basically the test dummies. The ride started and Mary Rose and I prayed about five Hail Maries and Acts of Contrition. It was just fear on top of fear. The shoot you for about fifty feet before you go straight up, so at first you're worried about making it to the top, then worried about it making it over, and when you finally do, you're looking straight down and are terrified. I got off and went pale for about a half hour. It went past the point of being scary and fun and was just an awful experience. I'll never ever do it again. The rest of the day, I was just really drained and not really enjoying anything. We stayed there for about nine hours that day, then headed back to Temple. I finished my two last finals today and tomorrow I'm getting senior portraits taken, who knew they had them for college? I didn't, lol. Oh and I also bought Dreamgirls and freakin loved it. Totally cried at the end.

5:49 pm - when your mother bakes you cakes...
|
|
Alright, since it's been so long since we actually got an update, we'll talk a lil about Damn Yankees. I'm super excited for all those who attended and all the bitches that didn't come, well you missed me, which is worse than anything I could say to you, lol. On the first night, we were filled to capacity and had only standing room. We were all pumped for "Six Months" which went amazingly. The show was kind of iffy, but that's to be expected with the first show for an audience. The midnight show was some fun stuff. Since it was 420 and there would be many drunken/high audience members, we changed on of my lines in "The Game" from "when your mother bakes you cakes" to "when you're smokin' till you're baked," to the joy/shock of the audience. Overall though, the midnight show that I really was afraid of went pretty well. The matinee on Saturday was ok. We had blind audience members and in the middle of "Six Months" realized we yelled, "you're blind ump, you're blind ump, you must be outta your mind ump." Ok, we all felt a lil' bad about that one. Then it comes time for the Trial and as I start to go into my Judge schpiel, I realize I'm making fun of the blind yet again. Lovely. The final show was by far the best though, with me shedding a little tearage. I swear, I need to stop getting attached to cast members. I really loved getting to know everyone in the cast and crew and love them all (which is a real rarity). I'm so happy to get back into theater and hope I get the chance to be in a few more shows in my time left at Temple. This week, I do my two shows for Kimmika, which should be interesting, and write the ten page paper for it. Great...lol. It should be cool though. So school's almost done, and I haven't even noticed the time flying by because of Damn Yankees. Hopefully this summer will be better than last and I won't be wasting time or money like I did last year, uugh. Peace out peoples.

7:54 pm - COME SEE DAMN YANKEES!

Basically, there's been no update because my life is the busiest it ever has and hopefully ever will be. Between Damn Yankees rehearsals, there have been some good times shared with friends and friends alike, but I'm too busy to talk about it, lol. Anyway, the show is going up this Thursday and running to Saturday. The dates are:
Thursday 4/19- 8 PM Friday 4/20- Midnight Saturday 4/21- 2PM & 8 PM
Come see if you can, or else I'll cut you. Hopefully things will have calmed down by next Sunday and there'll actually be an update.

11:02 pm - QOD
|
|
Alright so this week was pretty freakin interesting. We had Damn Yankeeage all week, and on Tuesday I saw In the Continuum with Jess for Collaborative Art. The show was a two person show about two African woman, one from Zimbabwe and the other from South Central, contracting HIV and playing the people in their lives that it affected. It was such an amazing show and I'm seriously in the mood for a sunshine happy show right now it's not even funny. Friday was the bake sale for Damn Yankees, and we made $217.24. What's better though was the night before involving making baked goods and Reefer Madness sing-alongs with Brent, Ashley, and Jacqui. Then my introduction to Patti-Mother Fuckin-Lupone, that bitch can sing. On Saturday, we ventured to Jone's for Ali's birthday dinner. I got a freakin awesome fried calamari salad and a campfire desert, graham cracker, brownie, ice cream, and marshmallow, sooo good. Then today for Ali's birthday, she and I attempted musical theatre day where we would only watch musicals and sing what we spoke. We watched Cabaret, Bye, Bye, Birdie, then fell asleep during The Sound of Music. We realized that after Nazis, the Cold War, then back to Nazis, that it was too much and called it a day for the musicalage. This week is some more Damn Yankees and Caroline or Change, which I'm excited for. Alright, see ya then.

10:27 pm - justice is blind
|
Alright kids, this week was pretty much rehearsalage and seeing the Devils again. We'll recap anywho. On Monday, we had a "production number overhaul" in which we got some new steps to dances, one of which was sorely needed since the end of the song deteriorated and a new ending made it shiny and new. Then on Tuesday we blocked the Trial, where I play another role, the Judge. It's generally a hilarious scene, and we I got to the couple of lines I had, Jim said, "Now the joke here is that you're blind." I was like a pig in shit; my endless Helen Keller jokes qualified me for the position and I really got into it. Apparently I was pretty funny, which was jawesome to hear.
There was also some fun this week involving course selection. Let me just say, I will not miss that once I picked courses for Spring '08. Praise Jesus the hell will be over. I got the classes I wanted though, just waiting for authorization for one more. Then on Friday, I joined the lovely Megan Columbus and her friend Autumn for round two of The Devils. That shit was just as disturbing and sad as the first time. I had a good time between intermissions though, the laughs were so needed. I slept over the broads' apartment and the next morning watched Reefer Madness and ventured to Dunkin Donuts with Ali (love that girl). I headed home and hung out with the Shaneage then to see Seussical at Bonner. I had never seen the show before, or heard any of the music, but it was really freakin good. All the parts were cast very well, which is sometimes tough for Bonner & Prendie shows. It was also a perfect show for the schools in terms of mood and general happiness.
Today we had a lil' rehearsal from 2-5, then I headed home and am now immersed in Born on the Fourth of July for American Lives. I'm actually zooming through the book, praise the heavens it's not as long as Coming of Age in Mississippi, lol. I'm going to get back to that, and starting tomorrow I'm up at school all week with rehearsals every night from 6-10 and show for Collaborative Art on Tuesday. I won't be home until Saturday and I have two papers due this week, joy. Tune in next week to see if I had a nervous breakdown, lol.

9:17 pm - Damn body.
|
|
Ok, it's been two weeks since I updated and they've been some boring two weeks. Not much Damn Yankees, so it was basically school and home. Last Saturday, I spent the whole day with Jess and such and slept over. We also got the best General Tso I've ever had from this place called Yang Ming(I think). Sooo good. Then this week was boring until we saw The Devils on Thursday. That shit was good. It was really disturbing at parts, and I definitely left the theater feeling depressed like whoah. Elena got all possessed by the devil and I had a really hard time watching it. Add to that that she made this crazy hissing sound and I couldn't avoid her. Then I did literally nothing until today when I met with my group for Kimmika's class and we finally finished Six Months Out Of Every Year in Damn Yankees, the number that we've attempted twice but never completed. This week is some more Damn Yankeeage and Devils with Megan Columbus on Friday. Peace out yo.

11:44 pm - Listen to Jesus, Jimmy.
|
Well this week was interesting. Monday was the viewing, which was not fun, but I did get to see a few people I haven't seen in forever. Tuesday, I had the funeral, but had to skip the burial to make Kimmika's class. I also got word the night before that I needed to stay around for a costume fitting at 6. Long story short, I waited around school when I really should have been home grieving for the cunt (sorry if the word offends, but it's the only word that really displays my disdain) costumer to say she didn't need me even though she had an e-mail go out to the whole cast about staying around. I got the train home and was completely fuming, and was so close to quitting the show. I decided against it though, because I'm friends with the people in the show and there's been enough problems going with the cast.
Wednesday was boring, and Thursday I made up my Com Theory test and Kimmika's mid-term, which I sped through. I also had my Voice mid-term, reciting a monologue. So Lindbergh from Damn Yankees goes up second and I realize that we have the same monologue. When my turn came up though, instead of saying, "so we have the same monologue," I went right into it. I didn't feel the need to explain since people would notice anyway. I got a kind of dirty look from one of the girls though, and thought it was pretty rude and unwarranted since I've had the freakin monologue since last year. She can suck it. I stayed over Ashley's and went to Grumpy's to watch some people get all drunked up. It was quite entertaining and there were definitely some uncomfortable moments with an aggressive person. I'm not one to talk about others (my ass), but I feel it's better not to go into it since I already bad-mouthed two people who deserved it in this entry, lol.
Friday I got up and had so little sleep, then headed home and when I crashed at 1, I didn't get up until 11:30. It was so needed and I felt great afterward. At around 7:30, I headed up to school to meet Ashley, who was in tech for The Devils. She needed a place to stay, so I headed up and met her, then my padre came and picked us up. I saw my fiance Elena, which was amazing. I miss that broad. We got back to my house and I introduced Ashley the the amazing invention that is Swiss Farm's Tea Cooler. We watched Once More With Feeling, then headed off to slumber. I had work this morning and had to leave before Ashley, but she made it home alive anyway. Yay, lol. This week I'm working like a bunch, so don't expect much in terms a good update this week.

10:29 pm - lost and found
|
Well this week has been interesting to say the least. It started on a lovely note on Tuesday. After Com Theory, Beth, Erin, and me were hanging out and talking in Tuttleman, then the conversation led to Britney Spears and her shaved head. We started riffing on her, then the topic of the vag shots of her came up. Erin said her vagina looked like Joe Camel's lips. I doubled over in laughter and smacked my face on a newspaper rack, which in turn split my nose. I went into the bathroom right after and noticed that when I moved my eyebrows the wound opened up much like when they slash people's throats in movies. MMMM. I made my way to Health Services and ended up just getting Steri-Strips to seal the wound, avoiding stitches. Either way it was leaving a scar, so I decided against waiting at the emergency room for hours. And we're bringing it back to the fact that I can say that Britney Spear's vagina has scarred me for life, literally.
Then on a serious note, I found out Thursday morning that my Uncle Jimmy, who had bladder cancer and was doing fine, had gone into the hospital early in the morning and past away. I really haven't had time to stop and think about it, which I guess is kind of good since I'm really a mess when I grieve. So I went to two classes then on my way home slid in the mud, flat on my ass. Then the next morning as I walked to the train I noticed a glove was missing from my pocket. It was actually right when I was getting to the spot I fell at, and low and behold, there it was. So I figured it was a sign of things looking up. I got on the train as usual and headed to Temple. On my way up the street to school though, I realized I left one of my bags on the train. I was staying the weekend with Ashley and it had my nice dress shoes, clothes, and my freakin digital camera. I called Septa right away and talked to customer service. I went the whole day just really not caring since I was so drained.
I went through the day, then hung with Ashley and off to practice, where one of the leads, Sara, fell and broke her ankle and dislocated her knee. It was an awful thing, but apparently she's going to be ok, which is great. It was just a really scary thing, I don't know. After that though, Ashley and I went to see Catholic School Girls at Randall, which was so freakin hilarious. The show was about girls growing up in Catholic school and rocked my socks. I also got to see my lady love Megan Columbus, which is always an honor. I slept over Ashley's, then in the morning she, Ali, Jacqui, and I headed to Dunkin Donuts, which was awesome as to be expected. After that, we went to an open house for them looking for a place to rent, then I headed to Suburban Station to see if they had my bag. Unbelievably, they did and I near jumped up and down like a lil' girl. Everything was in it, and I'm in love with Septa right now. I have to write a letter of gratitude or something. I headed home then back to Temple for Ashley and Jacqui's birthday extravaganza. We went to Buca's, which P.S. is an amazing restaurant. We sat in the pope room, which is a circular room with pictures of popes on every wall, with a bust of Pope Benedict in the middle on a rolling lazy Susan. It was very Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, lol. It was just a generally amazing time with talk of angels with giant peeshes and eating packets of butter. Two for me, lol. We went back to Towers in a big group and watched Fern Gully, which Jim has decided to adapt into a musical and do it as his student production next year, lol. Then today we had rehearsal and at one point, I slid and fell, resulting in a bruise on my hip right now. Jim loved that especially considering the events of Friday night. The song we were having trouble with came together pretty well though, so I was happy for that. This Tuesday is Uncle Jim's funeral, and also the week of mid-terms. We'll see how this turns out, until then, take care.

10:24 pm - CAVE DIVING!
|
Finally, an interesting week. So on Monday, Ashley and I did our usual after Fundamentals and hung out near the stairs at Tuttleman. It must have been "see people Kyle knows day" because first Jeff stopped and talked; then Laurel stopped in for a quick talk, then Erin came along. She and Ashley apparently are both going to Spain this summer, so they talked about that, then we all disbanded and I went to dinner with Jeff. Apparently he's Brendan from Damn Yankees' roommate, which I didn't know. So then I headed for imminent doom AKA the first dance practice. I was really surprised though, because I caught on pretty quickly. I mean, I couldn't do the moves right away, but I knew what I was supposed to be doing. Oh, and apparently I make really amusing faces, because I'm basically trying to be as cheesy as possible, which is a new thing for me.
Then Tuesday, between class and practice, I went to Ashley's (Damn Yankees Ashley) apartment to hang out, where there was discussion of going to the gynecologist. Ashley said that her female gyno had a person in the room to see that there was no sexual harassment or anything. Her roommate and one of my my newest best friends Ali said she thought they only did that with male doctors, to which I responded, "I guess your gyno was a lesbo, she totally wanted to go cave diving." Ali, who had been drinking seltzer, did the best spit-take I've ever seen and we were entertained immensely. Also, Worm Boob (we won't go into that, too embarrassing). I also tried to make Ali snarf her wonton soup by saying dirty words every time she took a bite. Practice was cool as well, good times.
Wednesday, I saw Nerds: A Musical Software Satire for Collaborative Art. When we got there, the ushers told us we were in row D, forth from the front. So Jess and I sat down there, Shayna waited to sit with Andy who tagged along. After a little bit, a guy came down and asked to see our tickets. Apparently, our seats were row O, but the ushers told us the wrong letter. Luckily, the people with the seats didn't want to sit so close, so we got to stay. The show itself was so amazing, great comedy and hilarious lyrics. It's the fictional account of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates developing their companies as if they were rival nerds as kids. I really want to see it again, but the show's all sold out. GRRRH!
Thursday was blah, as was Friday.
Saturday, I planned on seeing The Importance of Being Earnest, but tickets were sold out. So Ashley, Ali, and me put our names on a wait list, of which we were number 21. We basically gave up and decided to go for pizza, where the guy behind the counter was totally macking on Ali and made her uber-uncomfortable. We then headed back to Towers, only to be called by Jim, who is rooming with the ladies next year and wanted to look at places for rent. We literally walked all the way down Broad Street and right back again to look at the houses. Had some fun cracking jokes over that, then all headed back to Towers, where there was cave diving, tickling, and humping. Yeah, just an average day. We then watched Reefer Madness, which was amazing, and my lover Kristen Bell was hilarious in it. By far though, the best line was delivered by the pothead saying, "This crazy tomato is trying to rape me." You really need to see it to understand.
Then today was rehearsal of basically every dance number, lol. We learned a new one which I was really against in the beginning since only a few people were originally in it. My concern was that it would be too much for me to learn and then have to take a three week break where we're not having rehearsal. It all worked out in the end, and it's a really cool quick dance. This week has a few practices, as well as Ashley and Jacqui's b-day party on Saturday night. Hopefully we'll get a good entry out of it.

Alright, let's tackle this week. Tuesday night, I saw A House Without Walls, which was amazing. It was immensely powerful and just a great show. I really like the fact that InterAct does more social issue plays, which actually leave you with something to think about at the end. Wednesday night we blocked Heart and Thursday night, The Game. Both scenes are freakin hilarious and I can't wait until we start to piece things together. Then Friday night was Porgy & Bess. It ran three and a half hours, all of which I was stuck in an uncomfortable seat because I had stretched muscles in my legs I must not have used in a while, so it was painful to sit and stand. The show itself was really good though, with great comedy and drama, and even some teary moments. Bess' voice was phenomenal! I walked to Shayna and Jess' and into a Rent sing-along, which I was more than happy to be involved in. I totally claimed sassy black lesbian lawyer in Take Me Or Leave Me. We then started in High School Musical, which including the next morning, was played about twenty to thirty times on end. It was freakin fantastic. Then today we had rehearsal and while the girls were practicing a song, the guys were scattered around and we threw a paper clip around, then pen cap, penny, and paper ball, much to the chagrin on Jim, lol. It was just a good time. Tomorrow is dance practice, which should be interesting. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up, God knows I'm going to try. See you bitches later.

8:24 pm - miles and miles and miles of heart...
|
|
Alright people, let's see. The week was pretty blah, then on Thursday, I saw Of Mice and Men for Kimmika's class, and it was freakin amazing. I've never read the book or seen the movies, but after it was over, I felt sick to my stomach. It was this incredibly visceral experience, and it was amazing. In Kimmika's class that day, we were teamed up into groups who were each assigned a genre of theatre we had to produce. My group got modern tragedy, which was the one genre I didn't want. We'll see how it works out though. It could be cool. I slept over Shayna's that night and found out that a girl I met at orientation and haven't talked to since freshman year is her roommate. Small world. Then I did class and shit, and yesterday was my last day of work until spring break. I'm happy to not have to stress about it, but I really am going to miss a lot of the people. Damn Yankees is my big concern right now though, so I'm putting all my effort into that. Speaking of...today was the first rehearsal which went pretty well except that it was freezing the whole time. This week is jam-packed with shows, rehearsals, and papers, so the next update should be worthwhile. Until then, take care of yourselves and others.
